Spade Lug Connectors
The spade lug connector is has a very
simple design. The terminal on the receiver or speaker is
called a binding post; it has a metal contact surface as well as a
whole where a screw is placed. When connecting the speaker
wire to the speaker or receiver, the spade lug is placed on the metal
contact surface of the binding post. Using the screw, the
connection is made when the U-shaped spade lug connector of the speaker
wire is clamped between it and the metal contact surface.
The spade lug connection has a
large
contact area between the terminal of the speaker wire and
that of the
binding post. This large contact surface creates a better
connection and therefore facilitates a superior signal transfer when
compared to the spring
connector.
Applications of Spade
Lug Connectors
You can find the spade lug connector
used for speakers, home theater receivers, as well as older television
antennas.
